Diabetic Foot Condition

If you suffer diabetes, looking after your feet is important.

People with diabetes often have higher levels of blood glucose, which affects the circulation and the nervous system. The reduction of blood supply to the feet can cause damage to the nerve endings, something known as peripheral neurophaty.

Peripheral neuropathy can lead to insensitivity, which means loosing the abilities to feel pain, hot or cold. A person with diabetes should check his feet daily for any sighs of damage, such as cuts, sores or wounds.

Poor circulation makes it difficult for the body to heal, so minor problem left unchecked could lead to serious complication, including foot ulcers, infections or amputations.

In addition, person with diabetes should have regular foot assessments with professional Podiatrist or Foot Health Practitioner to reduce risk of infection and other complication.

At Foot Nurse Surrey we are experts in diabetic foot assessment. Elderly and disabled people welcome!
